3 MUST VISIT COFFEE SPOTS IN MEXICO CITY

Coffee is an important part of every morning for us. We can suffer through instant coffee when necessary, but finding a great café in each new location is a priority high on our agenda. Here are three must-visit coffee spots we discovered within the Centro neighbourhood of Mexico City.

Great Coffee in Mexico - La Ilusión Café

LA ILUSIÓN CAFÉ

Our favourite coffee in Mexico City was from La Ilusión Café. It is located down a small alleyway off the pedestrian portion of Dolores Street in Barrio Chino. Despite the main strip usually being quite crowded, this café down the end of the alleyway was a peaceful retreat. The barista who served us was incredibly welcoming and friendly. The space is laid-back and full of beautiful art, and, most importantly, the coffee is excellent.

Where to Eat in Mexico City - Centrina Cafe

CENTRINA CAFÉ

Centrina Café was the first coffee shop we tried in Mexico City. We found this café on a food blog and had it tagged in our Google Maps, ready to try. It did not disappoint. It is located in Colonia Centro, next to the Plaza San Juan. They offer a range of drinks as well as breakfast and lunch items. The staff were very friendly (and very patient and kind as we attempted to order in Spanish for the first time). Both times we visited, we ordered to-go and enjoyed our delicious coffee with a buttery croissant in the plaza.

Hidden Cafes in Mexico City - Cafe Quintales

CAFÉ QUINTALES

We discovered Café Quintales by chance, walking back to our Airbnb after a trip to Pasteleria Ideal (another great place to buy some delicious pastries to go with your coffee). The café is located in Centro Histórico, near Barrio Chino. It is a small shop with a few seats available, and they offer drinks and snacks. The barista who served us was very lovely, and the coffee was also excellent.

OUR GOOGLE MAPS

When planning our travel destinations, we pin our bucket list of sites to see and recommended places to eat and drink on Google Maps. We are then never lost for ideas when travelling, and can easily share these lists with for friends and family to use as well.
